Dear Doug, Thanks for your response. I believe that you are pretty accurate when you say that I haven't completely forgiven. I think that logically I don't hold a grudge ,nor do I neglect my Dad(who is now very ill and debilitated) In fact, I have "been there" for him, but the part of me that knows that he hurt a little defenseless child who trusted him resents that. I , as an adult , cannot understand mistreatment of a child. I have gingerly approached the subject with him, he just laughed and said that it was all a "joke" and that I shouldn't take it seriously. He doesn't have a close relationship with any of his children. He talks about generic things like the weather and sports.He avoids his feelings like the plague! I'm more up front with feelings, but it's hard to talk to him about them because it makes him uncomfortable. Anyway, I pray to my Lord that I can forgive completely. I'm sure that this would do so much for me in every aspect of my life. Thanks again for answering. I appreciate it.
