I have a friend who did just that and she still has her marriage, but it doesn't go that way in every case I'm sure. I don't know if I will ever do that but for right now I do not have any desire to. I know of alot of marriages that have gone through this, and as a result, the ones that have stayed together have much happier marriages but they sure did struggle with the "event" and all of the feelings it brings about. I hope you and your husband are doing well.
