I doubt anyone will know just how much I'd like to believe in the same way Doug does. How can I know that God's love is really there for ME when I was taught as a child that God is watching my every move - and waiting to punish me - a sinner?
It seems every time I start to let myself believe in a loving God the stories and lessons of childhood come back to scare me away again.
Saying I have to forgive in order to receive God's forgiveness just makes me feel more imperfect - you'll never know how often I've 'repented' and I never get this gift of healing and love.
Could it be that my bucket is too busted to hold healing water for long enough to do me any good?
